Why did you choose HSU?
HSU is awesome for soo many different reasons: We're surrounded by trees, beautiful people, and only 15 minutes away from the coast! There is (no joke) something to do and get involved in here every single day.
Most embarrassing thing on your iPod?
Probably my most recent obsession with Rihanna's "We Found Love"
How do you have fun in Humboldt County?
What a hard question…there's so much to do! There's a great sense of community here so anything from spending time with friends, going to open mic's, Arts Alive, shows, hiking, backpacking, camping…I could go on forever.
What are you passionate about?
I'm super passionate about social justice, fighting oppression, and making our world a more sustainable and friendly place
Outdoor Spot You Love?
I love the Lost Coast—two hour drive south of Arcata, beautiful 26 mile stretch of untouched coast and only accessible by foot … so great for backpacking!
What has been your best experience at HSU?
There are so many…I can't just choose one! Everything from my awesome teachers, being involved on campus, and building a great group of friends.
Most fascinating thing you have learned recently?
I just learned how to compost through an organic gardening class at CCAT
What are your plans for after graduation?
I would love to hike the Pacific Crest trail and do the Peace Corps for two years and get involved in social justice.
Who was your favorite professor?
Definitely James Moore—he was my professor for Beginning Drawing and Life Drawing I. His passion for the beautiful things in life inspires me and the classroom environment he creates is such an amazing catalyst for creativity and expression. He's also an incredible artist.
Have any tips for new students?
Be open to change, embrace people for who they are, and do something you've never done before your first semester (Like backpacking, hula hooping, or river rafting!) I promise you will meet people and have experiences you'll never forget.
