A picture of the front of the MCCAn education at Humboldt State University is not only to obtain scholastic excellence but becoming a well integrated member of society. Here at the MultiCultural Center, our mission is not only to uphold that vision but to build, nurture and sustain an inclusive "multicultural" community. Especially in the diverse world we live in today, we must learn to celebrate and honor the diversity of people.

The MultiCultural Center (MCC) is a dynamic and inclusive learning community that supports students in their academic and personal journeys at HSU. We do this by creating community, a home away from home and a safe place to Explore, Experience, Express, Empower and Engage. The MCC is committed to retention and student success by providing co-curricular opportunities for leadership development, social justice advocacy, identity exploration and cross-cultural learning experiences. We are a student-centered program that fosters acceptance and respect of all people.

  • Explore identity and history
  • Experience cultures and traditions
  • Express feelings, ideas and observations
  • Empower each other to advocate for social justice
  • Engage to build and sustain community

You can also visit our center located on the south side of the Humboldt State University Library in the historic Balabanis family house. Students who are far from home find the MCC's warm embrace comforting and familiar.
