From Next Door, Across the Country, and Around the World

Students select HSU Oceanography from all across the country and from around the globe. Many of our students want a degree that will help them get a job in some ocean-related science right after graduation. Many others want a degree that will help them gain acceptance into the best graduate schools. Some just want to get a degree with a focus on the ocean, including environmental awareness and climate change, even though they may not intend to pursue it as a career.

What do all these students have in common? They love science and they love the ocean. They want to go to college at a student-centered school that blends classroom learning and hands-on, practical experiences. They want to study with faculty who love to teach. They want opportunities to learn skills and participate in real and meaningful research.

That's why they come here.
