FALL 2017

As the seasons transition, we are embracing new changes for OLLI at HSU. We have a new college name: the College of Extended Education & Global Engagement. Our college has welcomed the Center for International Programs to join our team, alongside Extended Education and Academic Technology.

Starting Sept. 11, OLLI will host the FREE Brown Bag Lunch Presentations at a new venue: the conference room at the beautiful Hospice of Humboldt campus. There is ample parking and seating for all who are interested. We hope you will bring a friend and join us.

Due to safety concerns and parking difficulties, OLLI at HSU will no longer be offering evening and Saturday classes at the Humboldt Bay Aquatic Center. These classes have been relocated to the Humboldt State University campus, where the parking is plentiful on weekends, lighting is good, and the police station is nearby. Members who register for these classes at least three days before the first meeting, will receive a free parking permit. Folks who register at the last minute will need to purchase a parking permit ($3.50).

In the OLLI catalog, you will find a new streamlined layout featuring an exciting collection of lifelong learning opportunities. Download the catalog here.

Lastly, be looking for significant changes to this OLLI at HSU website this fall. We are in the process of launching a new, interactive website for our members, which we hope you will enjoy!

Looking forward to learning, transforming and changing together,

Join OLLI at HSU for a summer celebration of the Humboldt region.

OLLI at Humboldt State University has a new look this summer! We invite all lifelong learners aged 50 and better to join or renew membership to our growing learning community. This summer our program will feature the aspects of our region that make Humboldt a stellar destination. Each course meets only one time, and all courses will focus on a distinct feature of the Humboldt area. Enrollment is limited –- register early for these unique educational experiences.

If you have not heard of the Osher Lifelong Learning Institute (OLLI), please take advantage of the course offerings this summer to learn more about OLLI and explore our Humboldt region.

If you are already one of the over 1,300 members of OLLI at HSU, it is time to renew your membership for 2017-2018. OLLI members pay half price on all summer course offerings. We look forward to seeing you this summer as we celebrate Destination Humboldt.

OLLI at HSU relies upon our members to share their time and resources in many ways: as faculty, committee members, ambassadors, financial donors and lifelong learners. We offer continued deep gratitude to the Friends of OLLI and especially to Jerry and Gisela Rohde who have once again offered a challenge to members to join them in earning personal dividends through a charitable gift annuity to OLLI.

In August we will celebrate all of the Friends of OLLI with an exclusive Destination Humboldt donor event. Friends of OLLI should look for a special invitation in June.

We hope you enjoy our new summer program. As always, we welcome feedback and thoughts.
