Preparing For HOP

  • Carefully review the deadlines included in your Admissions packet. Pay close attention since these deadlines affect your ability to enroll at HSU. Failure to sign-up for HOP by May 1st will result in Humboldt State revoking your admission.  ..

  • Sign up before May 1 to finalize your admission to Humboldt State and to secure your spot at the on-campus HOP orientation session on August 16-19.

  • Take the CSU English Placement Test and/or Entry Level Math Exam at the HSU Testing Center. See for more info about these exams. Failure to take these exams as noted in your Dates & Deadlines sheet from the Office of Admissions will prevent you from registering for classes.

  • Submit immunization records before you register for classes. See the Health Information page for more details.

  • Make travel arrangements for your trip to campus. Families and guests should also secure area lodging as early as possible.

  • Sign up for an electronic funds transfer to your checking or savings account to speed up the deposit of student financial aid awards and any general refunds from the University owed to you.
  • Upload your photo for your HSU Student ID card. Read directions below
  • Thank you for attending a Student Send-Off! Please click this link to read a handout that we've created just for you. If you plan to attend The Family & Guest Orientation, we will be reviewing these items and many more in greater detail.

Here are some helpful resources that we encourage you to review:

Upload your ID card photo

To get a head start on life at HSU, once you have enrolled in classes, you’ll be able to upload your own photo for your Humboldt student ID card. Uploading a photo is required for all students who will live on-campus, will expedite your access to campus services, and will ensure you are happy with the photo. PLEASE NOTE: you will not be able to upload your photo until after you’ve registered for classes.

If you plan to live on-campus: you are REQUIRED to upload your own photo no later than Friday, July 10, 2015. Your HSU student ID card will then be printed in advance, and you will receive it at check-in.

If you will be living off-campus: we highly recommend that you upload your photo no later than Friday, July 10, 2015 for best service. You may then pick up your new ID card at the Library Circulation Desk, located on the first floor in the Library. ID cards will not be available for pick-up until on/after August 11; please allow at least 48 hours after uploading your photo for your card to be created. If you choose, you may also have your ID card photo taken at the ID Card Office when you’re on campus.

How to upload a photo:

1.     Log into myHumboldt  using your HSU user name and password:

2.     Click the button near the top to access Student Center

This photo will be your permanent HSU ID card picture throughout your time at HSU. Please keep this in mind when selecting your photo. Once uploaded, you will not be able to change your photo.

The photo will need to meet the following requirements:
