2014-2015 Goals and Collaboration

July 15, 2014

Happy Fiscal New Year to everyone in Administrative Affairs!

We are embarking on an exciting new year and looking forward to welcoming our new president and interim-provost to our campus.  Our division continues strategic planning, goals development, and collaborative problem solving efforts that we started last year which helps us better focus our efforts and resources.

Earlier this calendar year our managers reviewed the division mission statement, values, and goals that were set the previous year and made adjustments to the goals (refer to the attached Administrative Affairs Division 2014-2015 Division Mission & Goals).

·            Mission:      Purpose of our organization today.

·            Vision:         Description of where we see ourselves in the future.

·            Values:        Reflections of our organization’s core ideology.  They are our basic                                       beliefs about what really matters and guide us on how things should                                     be done.

·            Goals:          Statements of intended end results.

Our focus is on working in a collaborative and inclusive environment.  This means that we work as a team in a transparent and inclusive way to support the educational mission of the institution.  Over the next couple of months everyone will participate in the development of department and/or major business unit (MBU) goals.  AVPs and department managers will work with staff to identify what we should be working on over the next twelve months (and possibly beyond) and how we will assess our results (refer to our Annual Program Review, Evaluation & Planning Handbook on our network share at:

We would also like to encourage everyone to use the collaborative problem solving skills that we learned in June (electronic copies of the training materials are on our network share at:  T:\\Administrative Affairs\\Admin Affairs Staff Training).  At a minimum, each MBU should identify two goals that utilize collaborative, interest-based problem solving to achieve the outcome and results.

I’m looking forward to our journey and the coming year!

Joyce Lopes
