2016 Social Justice Summit

January 7, 2016

Greetings Friends of the MultiCultural Center!

On March 4 & 5, 2016, the Humboldt State University MultiCultural Center (MCC) will hold the 22nd Annual Social Justice Summit. Your participation is what makes this event such a success each year, and we hope to continue that tradition. We invite you to be involved in the Summit by enrolling in the one-unit course (Ethnic Studies 480 and Women’s Studies 480), presenting a workshop, volunteering, or registering to participate in the Summit.

This year’s Social Justice Summit theme is “From the Frontlines: Theory to Action.” This year we hope to explore the heart of social justice and understand how to create change. The Summit is free for HSU students, College of the Redwoods students, and high school students. The fee is $20 per person for non-profit organizations, and $25 for community members. Historically, we have charged staff and faculty $25 to attend the Social Justice Summit, but this year we have changed that to a suggested $10 donation. We hope that you take advantage of this opportunity to learn from each other, and from Dr. Shakti Butler, our keynote speaker. Dr. Butler is a filmmaker and Founder & President of World Trust; Dr. Butler is a dynamic educator in the field of diversity and racial equity, and we are thrilled to have her join us.

Are you interested in presenting a workshop or facilitating a panel? To complete a proposal or to get more details, please go to: http://humboldt.edu/summit/proposal.html
