Anthem/Blue Cross Cyber Attack May Affect HSU Employees

February 18, 2015
The following message is from HSU Human Resources:
IMPORTANT INFORMATION FOR ALL EMPLOYEES
Yesterday the CSU Chancellor’s Office reported that the cyber attack at Anthem Blue Cross may affect employees who were enrolled in a PERS Choice, PERS Care or PERS Select health plan as early as 2004.
If you were an HSU employee receiving health benefits in 2004 or later, you were enrolled in an Anthem Blue Cross health plan as these were the only available health plans offered until May 2007. In May 2007 employees could choose to enroll in Blue Shield HMO (not subject to the cyber attack), although many remained with an Anthem Blue Cross PPO.
Employees and their dependents who were enrolled in the health plans described above are eligible for free enrollment in identity protection services offered through Anthem. These services are available at: http://www.anthemfacts.com. You may access this link immediately and begin the process for establishing identity protection services for you and your family.
Past and current Anthem members may receive an email notification about the identity protection services beginning February 18, 2015, if the member provided an email address to Anthem. Letters containing the same notification may be mailed to members’ home addresses if no email address was provided to Anthem.
You should be aware of scam email campaigns targeting current and former Anthem members. These scams, designed to capture personal information (known as “phishing”), are designed to appear as if they are from Anthem and the emails include a “click here” link for credit monitoring. These emails are NOT from Anthem.
DO NOT reply to the email or reach out to the senders in any way.
DO NOT supply any information on the website that may open, if you have clicked on a link in email.
DO NOT open any attachments that arrive with email.
