Apple OSX 10.10 - Yosemite Advisory

November 5, 2014

Apple recently announced the release of Mac OS X 10.10 Yosemite.  As exciting as a new operating system can be for some, we ask that you refrain from installing it on your HSU-Owned Macintosh systems.  ITS has not tested the functionality of Yosemite yet, so we are unable to determine what may break and what will work in the HSU enterprise environment.

ITS will start testing Yosemite to see how it works with the different HSU services and software.  We will refrain from deploying Yosemite until after the first couple of updates have been released and that we have determined it works in our enterprise environment correctly.

If you access campus resources from a personally-owned Macintosh, we recommend holding off updating to Mac OS X 10.10 Yosemite at this time.  Upgrading your home machines to Mac OS X 10.10 does not constitute a business need to get your campus-owned Macintosh upgraded to Mac OS X 10.10.

If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact me.

Thank you,

John
