Be Alert for "Honor Society" Phishing Scam

Printer-friendly version

If you receive an email congratulating you on being accepted to the (non-existent) University's Honor Society, please report it as a phish.

Like any phishing attempt, it's easy to spot the tell-tale signs if you know what to look for. Poor grammar, odd phraseology - plus, of course, a request for money are all indications that an email is probably not what it purports to be - despite the fake McAfee Secure stamp.

If you receive this email, please use the Gmail feedback system to report the message as a phish. Just click on the down arrow at the top right of the message to open up the drop-down menu and then click on the Report phishing option. The more people who do this, the faster the phisher will be stopped.
