Breaking Bread - Spirituality and Identity in Higher Education - Dec. 3

On Thursday, December 3, 2015 at 7pm in the KBR, Dr. Kawami Evans and Bro. Mahsea Evans will be visiting the campus and giving a talk about Spirituality and Identity in Higher Education. 
 
Dr. Kawami Evans currently serves as the Associate Director of the Center for African Diaspora Student Success at the University of California, Davis. She has more than ten years of experience working in higher education in a number of roles connected to student development and success. Her research focuses on the spiritual intelligence of Student Affairs practitioners and how it informs holistic student development work. 
 
Mahsea Evans received his Masters of Divinity from the Pacific School of Religion (PSR) and is completing an MA in Ethics and Social Theory from the Graduate Theological Union. At PSR, Mahsea was the recipient of the Changemaker Fellowship, which is awarded to talented individuals who have demonstrated their skills to lead justice-driven change in churches, organizations, communities, and individual lives. Mahsea also serves as the Director of Youth and Young Adult Ministries for St. Marks United Methodist Church in Sacramento, CA.      
 
These two omnifaith, non-denominational, dynamic speakers will share their insights and facilitate a community conversation about faith, identity, and higher education. This program may be exactly what students need to help them get through the last couple of weeks of the semester. Attendees will no doubt leave inspired. The event is free and open to the public.
