Campus Buildings Colder Thurs. & Fri. Due to PG&E Gas Curtailment

December 4, 2013
Campus Community,
The National Weather Service predicts that local temperatures will dip to the mid-twenties tomorrow and possibly through the weekend. As a result of the expected cold weather for the next few days, Pacific Gas and Electric has warned us that we may be required to curtail our natural gas consumption on Thursday and Friday. This would only be a reduction in gas use, not a complete suspension. We will still be able to provide limited heating throughout the day.
Our strategy for reducing gas consumption will include starting the morning “building warm up” process earlier and heating buildings gradually, as well as reducing the temperatures by a few degrees in most buildings. While we are not yet sure whether the gas curtailment will be required, we urge you to be prepared for colder than usual indoor temperatures throughout campus for the next two days. We recommend that you dress warmly and bring additional layers of clothing.
If you have any questions about the natural gas curtailment process or how it will affect the campus, contact Silas Biggin at extension 5899 or silas.biggin@humboldt.edu.
