Concerned about moving your students to Canvas? Don’t be!

April 11, 2017

The Canvas team spoke with many of the 400 students who attended the Canvas Pizza Party a couple of weeks ago. Canvas supports many tools for student engagement that we haven’t had access to in the past, so it was exciting to hear these kinds of comments:

“Easy to navigate. The calendar is the best. The notifications are nice.  They help you know when stuff is due.”

“I like Canvas … I prefer Canvas to Moodle.”

“From a student perspective, it is more intuitive than Blackboard and Moodle. The Grade checking is better. I like the columns.”

“All of my courses are in Canvas. I like the “What If Grades”. It helped me know that I need to focus more on a certain essay that is more crucial. It helped me prioritize.”

“Canvas is versatile and diverse. I can use the mobile app. The “What-If Grade” is great too.”

“I like [Canvas] better than Moodle. It is more interactive and intuitive. I really like “What-If Grades”. I dig it. I like to use the calendar. It’s cool. I like getting email notifications.”

“I like it. It is more organized.”

“I like [Canvas] better than Moodle. The “What-If” tool helps me know how much I have to study. The Canvas App is the best. I can work faster. I can just be on the bus and be on it. It is easier now that I don’t have to open a browser."

“Canvas is more organized than Moodle. When I log into Canvas, I know where I am going.”

“I always liked Canvas more than Moodle. I was at CR before. When I heard that HSU was going to Canvas I said, ‘Yes!’ Canvas is easier to find grades, agenda and what is going on. It is organized. I really like the [mobile] app. That is where I work most of the time. The Canvas App is where it’s at!”

“I HEART Canvas!”

The migration from Moodle to Canvas is almost complete, and come Fall 2017 it will be the only supported LMS. That’s why we've provided faculty with access to a wide range of weekly Canvas training sessions, as well as a website full of resources. So, if you’re still concerned about your own Canvas skills, head on over to the Canvas website and schedule a few workshops – we look forward to seeing you there!
