CRITICAL SECURITY ISSUE WITH INTERNET EXPLORER

August 27, 2015

Microsoft has announced the availability of a critical “out-of-band” security update for Internet Explorer. The vulnerability fixed by this update is critical enough to warrant its installation as quickly as possible, outside HSU’s normal patching schedule.

If your computer has not yet been updated, ITS will be installing the patch on the evening of Tuesday, September 1. Your computer will need to be rebooted after the update for the additional protection to take effect, so please be sure to save your work before leaving on that date.

Until your computer is updated, you are advised to use a different browser, such as Firefox or Google Chrome, if at all possible.

You can read more about the update here: https://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/security/ms15-093.

Please contact the Technology Help Desk at x4357 if you have questions.
