DARS Moves to the Web, Gets Mobile-Friendly

April 27, 2015

Effective May 1, 2015, the current version of the Degree Audit Report for Students (DARS) will be transformed into a web-based, mobile-friendly solution, thanks to Information Technology Services and the Office of the Registrar.

The first impression users will have of the new version is of a much clearer and more intuitive interface, especially if they’re using a mobile device. While there are no radical changes in functionality in the upgraded software, moving DARS to the web lays the foundation for additional enhancements in the future.

In addition to the new interface, users will find an easier-to-read table of transfer credits, a new Courses tab with transfer sources and targets, and improved accessibility through an option for screen readers that will deliver an alternate non-graphical view of the degree requirements.

The upgrade process will start on the evening of April 29, and DARS will be unavailable to all users until the process, expected to take around 24 hours, is complete. To keep track of what’s happening, users can sign up for campus “systat” (system status) reports at https://groups.google.com/a/humboldt.edu/group/systat

New business process guides will be available on both the Student and Faculty Center Help sites to assist the campus in transitioning to the new version.

Interested users can learn more about the background to the project on the ITS Project Office website.
