Emotional Support for Staff Following Death of Student

April 21, 2017

Many staff and faculty have been impacted by the death of our student, David "DJ" Josiah Lawson, and many have been providing emotional and physical support to our students.  Serving in this role takes a toll on each of us and we know that some are suffering, yet they keep showing up to do the work that is required.

We will hold a group session today for any staff or faculty member who would like to gather and process their feelings - grief, anxiety, compassion fatigue, anger.  The session will be facilitated by a CAPS counselor from CSU Northridge, and will be held from 2-4:00 this afternoon in the University Center Banquet Room (UCBR).

We hope to hold a second session next week, but have not worked out those details yet.

With sincere apologies for this late notice, I hope you will be able to spread the word to all who might benefit from this opportunity to come together in support of each other.

Please let me know if you have questions.

Best wishes,

Peg L. Blake, Ph.D.
Vice President
Enrollment Management and Student Affairs
