Football Kicks Off 2016 Season on ESPN3

ARCATA, Calif. – When Humboldt State football takes the field at Carson-Newman on Sept. 1 it will be the first game of the 2016 schedule and also the first NCAA Division II football game of the season aired live on national television.

The two playoff teams from a year ago will have the opportunity to face off in front of millions of football-starved fans during the Thursday game on ESPN3. The season opener will be one of two nationally televised games for the Green and Gold this season – HSU visits Western Oregon on Oct. 22 for its second national game.

The Jacks are coming off a historically successful 10-win 2015 campaign that saw the North Coast football program represented in the NCAA postseason for the first time since 1968. HSU will play five home and six road games in 2016, and season tickets are available by calling 707-826-5959.
