We have a guest speaker visiting HSU Library November 14th, and you are all invited too join a discussion of the initiatives at UCLA focusing on the changing teaching & learning services and landscape, and the role of the Library.

Title: Imagine! On the Future of Teaching and Learning and the Role of the Library

Abstract: Based on her article recently published in portal, Kelly E. Miller will discuss a variety of initiatives at UCLA on the changing nature of teaching and learning and the role of libraries.

Speaker: Kelly Miller, Ph.D., is the Director of Teaching and Learning Services and Head of the College Library at UCLA, where she is leading efforts to adapt library services and collections to meet campus priorities for education in the digital age. In January, Kelly will be joining the University of Miami Libraries in Coral Gables, Florida, as their new Associate Dean for Learning and Research Services. 

Trained as a humanist, Kelly holds a doctorate in Slavic Languages and Literatures from the University of Michigan (2002), and has taught at Michigan, Dickinson College, and the University of Virginia. In 2004-2005, she held a Council on Library and Information Resources (CLIR) Postdoctoral Fellowship at the University of Virginia Library, where she subsequently served as Research Associate for the Scholarly Communication Institute, Special Assistant to the Deputy University Librarian, and Head of Programs and Public Outreach for the Harrison Insitute. Her work in libraries focuses especially on the use of special collections and new digital technologies in teaching and learning environments.
