Gmail will block .js file attachments starting February 13, 2017

January 27, 2017

Gmail currently restricts certain file attachments, including .exe, .msc, and .bat, for security reasons. Starting February 13, 2017, that list will be expanded to also include JavaScript (.js) file attachments. As with other restricted file attachments, users will not be able to attach a .js file to any Gmail communication; if they attempt to do so, a warning message will be displayed explaining the reason why.

Anyone needing to send .js files for legitimate reasons can use Google Drive, Google Cloud Storage, or other storage solutions to share or send those files.

More information is available on the Google website.
