Google expands voice support for creating Docs

March 11, 2016

You can already put words on the page with just your voice in Google Docs, but until now it's been hard to format a document using just your voice. But now you can bold and italicize, copy and paste, insert bullet points and tables, undo and redo formatting, and more to your heart's content.

To format documents using voice commances, just pause, issue a command, pause again, and resume dictating.

You can find a list of all supported commands in this Google Help Center article or say “voice commands help” when you’re voice typing.

While voice commands currently work in English only, you can now dictate in Docs using dozens of dialects and accents. Note, however, that these features are only available when you’re working in a Chrome browser on your computer.
