HELP HSU WIN THE OUTDOOR NATION CAMPUS CHALLENGE AGAIN

September 22, 2017

Last year, HSU was crowned the “2016 National Outdoor Champion.” Now it is time to defend our title in this year’s Outdoor Nation Campus Challenge. A number of campuses are working on this effort, and we encourage you to participate by registering and logging your outdoor activities for Humboldt State.

This national competition involving nearly 100 colleges is scheduled to run through October 15. It will include prizes from sponsors such as The North Face, REI, Eagles Nest Outfitters and Hydro Flask, as well as from community donors.

Everyone—including students, faculty, staff, alumni, community members, family, and friends—is welcome to participate. The more participants, the greater chance of HSU winning a gear bank worth $3,000 from The North Face.

Outdoor Nation is a nonprofit project designed to encourage people to get off the couch and discover a passion for outdoor adventure. The competition is part of a larger effort to cultivate a new generation of outdoor enthusiasts and stewards of the environment.

For Humboldt State, the goal of participating this year is to help the HSU community develop an even greater appreciation for the outdoors and feel more connected to the Humboldt area and the campus.

At HSU, the outdoors is for every student from every background, and this effort can be part of changing the conversation about the outdoors to include a more diverse population.

To participate and qualify for prizes, download the app from the App Store or Google Play. Then log your activity.
