HSU Campus Resources for You

September 14, 2018

Dear Campus Community,

The weekend is upon us and we would like to remind you that this evening Humboldt State University is hosting the HSU Downtown Block Party from 6-9 p.m. on the Arcata Plaza during Arts! Arcata tonight. Whether you enjoy the block party or engage in other activities, we would like to wish everyone a safe and restful weekend.  In an effort to provide continuous communication with our community, we would also like to remind you of several resources available to you on campus should you ever need to utilize them.

If you should be on campus during evening hours, our University Police Department (UPD) offers escort services throughout the campus. To request a safety escort you can call 707-826-5555 or dial 5555 from one of the campus courtesy phones. If there is an emergency, you may dial 911 from anywhere on campus to reach UPD dispatch.

Counseling and Psychological Services (CAPS) are available to our regularly enrolled students from HSU. CAPS is located in the Student Health Center on the 2nd floor and is open Monday through Friday 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. You may reach CAPS at 707-826-3236. Remember that if you are in crisis and it is outside CAPS normal business hours, you may utilize the 24/7 hotline through their main line at 707-826-3236 to access a therapist by phone.

Should you need to report instances of sexual assault and discrimination, Our Title IX office is available as a resource to you. The Title IX office is located in 215 Siemens Hall and is open Monday through Friday 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. You may reach this office at 707-826-3361.

Additionally, the North Coast Rape Crisis Team offers free and confidential survivor focused advocacy for survivors of sexual assault. You may reach NCRCT at via their 24-hour hotlines at Humboldt: 707-445-288 and Del Norte: 707-465-2851.

As always, the Office of the Dean of Students (DoS) team is available to answer any questions you may have regarding these resources. The office is open Monday through Friday 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. and located in Siemens Hall 211. You may reach DoS at 707-826-3504. Should you need to report any incident you may do so using the Maxient online reporting system for students of concern or discrimination or sexual misconduct at any time.
