October marks our 2nd annual celebration of HSU staff and faculty philanthropy with the HSU Cares campaign.  Last year, staff and faculty giving totaled nearly $70,000! That’s an average of over $225 per donor!

Your charitable giving extends beyond our campus and reaches around the globe. The next time you take a walk on the beach, remember that one of your coworkers is helping to keep it clean. The next time you visit the Sequoia Zoo or watch Nova on PBS, think of our HSU Community. The impact made by HSU Employees is immeasurable.

How to participate in HSU Cares this year:

• Make a Charitable Gift in support of HSU students
• Share your moment with campus! This year the Office of Philanthropy is asking alumni, parents, students and employees to tell the story of a defining moment in their HSU experience. All month long, a team of students will be sharing staff and faculty moments on this blog: humboldtloyaltystories.tumblr.com. Email giving@humboldt.edu to meet with a student and share your moment!
• Participate in the HSU Cares Run for a Cause. Forever Humboldt Students are organizing a fun event on Friday, October 14th at 4pm. This event will raise funds and awareness of ways that donors can directly impact HSU students. Staff and Faculty are invited to participate as donors, and as runners or walkers.
• Fundraising Workshops:
  -- How to get started fundraising! Wednesday, October 19th at noon in Library 114
  -- Discovering Donors: Strategies for Developing Donor Relationships Thursday, October 20th at noon in Library 114
• Each year State of California Employees participate in a campaign called “Our Promise” to designate a portion of their paychecks to regional charities via United Way. We have your form in Nelson Hall West 201.  If you would like to donate or update your United Way donation, please visit our office for more information.
• Display your “I’m Proud to Give” HSU Cares sign this month. We still have a few if you don’t have one. Email giving@humboldt.edu. Click here to view photos from last year.
