April 13, 2016

ARCATA, Calif. – Humboldt State softball earned the No. 1 spot in the first NCAA Regional rankings released Wednesday and remains third in the latest National Fastpitch Coaches Association poll.

“The way we have been playing this year, we have earned our ranking,” said Head Coach Shelli Sarchett. “Our job now is to continue to play our game at a high level and never let up.”

The Lumberjacks have shown no signs of letting up as they went 8-0 against Stanislaus State and Sonoma State last week. HSU leads the California Collegiate Athletic Association with a 28-2 conference record.

For the fourth consecutive week, the Jacks ranked third in the NFCA Top 25 poll. Indianapolis and West Texas A&M rank first and second, respectively, in the ninth ranking of the season.

HSU visits the Bay Area for six games this weekend, including four conference games versus SF State and two non-conference meetings with Dominican.
