Loss of HSU Student Brenden Haymond

Dear University Community:

We are sad to share news of the loss of Humboldt State University student Brenden Haymond. We extend our deepest condolences to his family and friends.

Brenden, a History major from Altadena, California died of medical causes early Monday morning. He was 20 years old.

University staff have been providing support to those on campus who knew him. They have also reached out to Brenden’s family, and will continue to assist them in this difficult time.

A recipient of a California Legislative Black Caucus scholarship from the 41st Assembly District, Brenden is remembered by faculty and staff who knew him as a thoughtful and respectful student who did very well in his major classes.

Brenden’s death is a loss for our community, and our thoughts are with those who are close to him.
