Dear University Community:

We are saddened to share news of the loss of 21-year-old Humboldt State student Matthew Campbell, and we extend our condolences to his family and friends.

A Fisheries Biology major, he died on June 18 and was from Elk Grove, California. Those who knew Matthew remember his passion for conserving rivers, streams, and natural fish habitats, and that he was a bright student with a promising future as a conservationist.

His death is a loss for the Humboldt State community and our thoughts are with him and his loved ones, including his brother Brandon, who is also an HSU student.

Students who are in need of additional support during this time are encouraged to contact the Dean of Students office at 707.826.3504 or visit that office in Siemens Hall 211. Staff or faculty seeking additional support may utilize the Employee Assistance Program at 707.443.7358.
