Mathematics Colloquium ~ February 12

February 11, 2015

Hello, Math Students and all interested parties:

Please join us for the weekly Mathematics Colloquium on Thursday, February 12,  2015 at   4 p.m., BSS 166. The talk is titled: Odds & Ends of Introductory Statistics with Dr. Yoon G. Kim, Professor of Mathematics, Humboldt State University.

There are many misconceptions and misunderstandings about commonly used items in statistics. This talk is based on personal notes from what I have encountered over the years when dealing with students and consulting clients. Issues include p-value, t-test, residuals, link function, etc. This talk is designed especially for students.

Don't forget coffee, tea and goodies at the Pre-Colloquium Tea at 3:30 in the 3rd Floor Open Area in the BSS building. For the complete abstract, please go to
