One of the most important aspects of information security is keeping everyone's computers and software updated to combat the latest threats. Wherever possible, ITS does this updating quietly in the background or during off hours. However, some updates can only be applied if a specific set of conditions exist - for example, your computer is running but certain applications are not running. In those situations, ITS may need to ask you to close one or more applications to allow the update to proceed on schedule; when this happens, you may see an unfamiliar window pop up on your screen.
