The Project will replace the tile roof, paint the exterior of the building, and augment the size of the exterior columns with concrete. Other activities include replacement of exterior lighting with LED fixtures and improving the buildings entry gates and accessible pathway. -- Basement: construction of shelving

Fall Semester

  • Computer Lab / Classroom 121 will be not available for regular classes during fall due to construction of Seismic Retrofit will impact windows in classroom. Specific construction dates to be determined.
  • Building perimeter: Exterior Column strengthening construction will occur within the dates of October 2016 – February 2017. The Project team will work with the Contractor and Library Occupants on a scheduled noise periods. To allow for partial day activities that will include loud concrete work around the perimeter of the building. The intent is to allow for morning or afternoon programs to resume with reduced interruption.
  • First Floor maps will be relocated into Humboldt Scholars Lab area by October 2016

Campus Impact
During the construction period both the main entries to the basement and the first floor will remain open and accessible. The exterior walkways under the exterior canopies at the basement level, and the first floor level will be within the construction zone and will not have public access. Additionally, the library parking lot will be impacted for contractor laydown space. Once a contractor is selected for this project a detailed detour and parking lot map will be published with the campus. There will be periods of noise related to concrete work and demolition of roofs and structure. Also there will be scaffolding and large equipment moving around the building. Visible construction zones and detours will be established and communicated to Library occupants as construction moves forward.
