Peg Blake, VP for Enrollment Management & Student Affairs, to Retire

January 31, 2017

Dear Colleagues,

Peg Blake, who has served as Vice President for Enrollment Management & Student Affairs for the last six years, has informed me that she intends to retire from the University this August.

Peg has devoted her entire career to supporting student success in post-secondary education. She joined us from Southern Oregon University, where she was Dean of Enrollment Services and Registrar. Prior to her work there, she served as Vice President for Student Affairs at Boise State University and Associate Vice Chancellor for Student Affairs at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. She was the elected President of the National Association of Student Personnel Administrators (NASPA), with over 15,000 members worldwide, and she currently serves on the NASPA Foundation Board of Directors.  In 2013, she was one of twelve to receive the NASPA Pillar of the Profession Award in recognition of her distinguished service to the organization and to her profession.

Peg earned her Ph.D. in Post-Secondary Education Administration from University of Nebraska-Lincoln. She also earned an MBA and a bachelor's degree in Anthropology from the same institution.

At HSU, she has been responsible for the leadership and administrative oversight of the Division of Enrollment Management & Student Affairs. Peg has collaborated with others across the University on a wide range of issues, programs, and services such as the development of the RAMP peer mentoring program, the Oh SNAP! food pantry, and the Centers for Academic Excellence.  She has led the Enrollment Management Working Group and is currently engaged in the development of a new strategic enrollment plan to guide our enrollment management efforts in the coming years, as well as the development of a student housing master plan.  She serves as advisor to the Associated Students, and she works closely with student leaders across the campus in support of their initiatives and personal growth.

Additionally, Peg has been highly involved in the shared governance of HSU, serving as an active member of the boards of directors of the Sponsored Programs Foundation, Advancement Foundation, and the University Center.  She is a member of the University Senate, the University Resources and Planning Committee, and the Re-Imagining the First Year team.  Peg has also actively participated in CSU-wide leadership, serving as chair of the 23-campus Mental Health Services Advisory Committee and as a highly engaged member of the Student Affairs Council.

Peg’s work throughout her tenure at HSU reflects her deep commitment to students. She genuinely cares about their well-being and is knowledgeable about and sensitive to what they need in order to thrive as college students and as individuals. Please join me in congratulating her for all her contributions to the HSU community and wishing her well in her future endeavors.

We will be launching a national search for a replacement soon, and more information about this process will be forthcoming.

With best wishes,

Lisa A. Rossbacher, Ph.D.
President
