Phi Kappa Phi at HSU

February 20, 2015
Faculty and Staff:

HSU's chapter of Phi Kappa Phi has been dormant for a few years.  We are considering reactivating it.  If you were inducted into PKP (even if you are not a current dues paying member)  and are interested in working with Michael Camann in Biology and myself to reactivate it here at HSU, please let me know.

PKP is a great opportunity for our students to become members of the premier national honor society in higher education.  Founded in 1897 at the University of Maine, Phi Kappa Phi is the nation's oldest and most selective collegiate honor society for all academic disciplines. Its chapters are on more than 300 campuses in the United States and the Philippines. Each year, approximately 30,000 members are initiated.

Since its founding, Phi Kappa Phi has initiated more than 1.25 million members into its ranks; all of these members have received emblems and certificates of membership. However, Phi Kappa Phi is much more than an emblem and a line on a résumé. It is a global network comprised of the best and brightest from all academic disciplines - a community of scholars and professionals building an enduring legacy for future generations.

It offers opportunities for study abroad, scholarships, and fellowships for our students.  Students are offered membership based on their class rank:  the top 7.5% of juniors, top 10% of seniors, and top 10% of graduate students.
