August 17, 2017

Dear students and colleagues:

I am pleased to announce that Professor Marlon Sherman, Department of Native American Studies, will join University Ombudsperson Professor Suzanne Pasztor in serving the campus during the upcoming year. Professor Dale Oliver is ending a three-year term as Ombudsperson, and we thank him for his service.

The University Ombudspersons provide confidential, informal mediation and conflict resolution services, to the extent permitted by applicable law, to the University community. They work with students, faculty, and staff, with a primary focus on student concerns.

The Ombudspersons serve as a resource to promote a positive campus climate and environment by facilitating problem resolution through listening, providing information, making referrals to other campus resources, and identifying options and alternatives.

For more information about the University Ombudspersons, including their contact information and how they can help, please visit:  http://www.humboldt.edu/ombuds/.

I am grateful to Marlon and Suzanne for this important service to the University. Their role in problem-solving and conflict resolution is a valuable contribution to our community.

With best wishes,

Lisa A.Rossbacher, Ph.D.
