RETIREMENT OF ATHLETICS DIRECTOR DAN COLLEN

September 8, 2016

Dear Colleagues,

Dan Collen, who has served as Athletics Director for the last 15 years, has announced that he plans to retire November 1.  Please join me in wishing Dan well and congratulating him on a job well done.

We will finalize a plan in the coming weeks for launching a national search and for interim leadership in the department.

Dan is an alumnus of HSU, and he has served in various roles at the University during his 35-year career.  He was an assistant coach for the HSU women's volleyball team and the head coach of the men's club team.  He also spent 20 years as director of Center Activities.

During my time working with him, I have been most impressed by Dan’s dedication to HSU and our student-athletes, his enthusiasm for our athletic programs, and his efforts to strengthen relationships between the University and our larger communities.

For more about Dan and his career at HSU, read the news release from Athletics.

With best wishes,

Lisa A. Rossbacher, Ph.D.
President
