Retirement of CIO Anna Kircher

July 21, 2017

Dear University Community,

With mixed emotions, I wish to announce the retirement of Anna Kircher, Humboldt State University’s Chief Information Officer (CIO). Anna will be retiring at the end of the Fall 2017 semester and a national search for her replacement is under way.

Anna Kircher was hired as the CIO in 2006 and during her tenure has guided Information Technology Services (ITS) and the campus through incredible changes in technology as well as significant growth in the utilization of technology across all areas of HSU.

Here are a few highlights of Anna’s contributions to HSU:

  • Integrated and expanded CMS support, project management and data warehousing
  • Integrated and streamlined campus wide IT support services
  • Initiated the ITS Project Prioritization process that assures ITS' efforts are in alignment with institutional priorities and goals
  • Initiated the Information Security program to protect university information assets and assure our compliance with laws and policies regarding confidential information

During her 11 years with the University, Anna led ITS through multiple re-organizations and process improvement efforts to keep pace with the changing IT landscape. Anna is a strong advocate for HSU in system-wide discussions around IT issues and helped position HSU to be viewed as a leader on technology issues across the CSU.

Please join me in extending sincere congratulations to Anna Kircher on her retirement as we wish her well in her new endeavors!

Alex Enyedi
Provost and Vice President of Academic Affairs
