State establishes 4th Friday of September as Native American Day

June 11, 2015

Tthe State of California, with the approval of Governor Brown (signed September 25, 2014), has established the 4th Friday in September as a state holiday to recognize Native American Day.  This amendment does not require state and local entities to close public offices as a paid holiday; however, we encourage campuses to engage their communities in honoring the contributions and endurance of Native Americans.
