University Notices – A Handy Communications Channel

June 1, 2015

U-Notices go out every Thursday evening. There are three separate versions – for students, for staff, and for faculty. It’s often the easiest way to get a message to the entire student body, since the student portal doesn’t have a pagelet equivalent to our Campus Announcements.

U-Notices are a reliable way to get information out to large groups on campus. I often recommend using U-Notices in combination with myHumboldt announcements to make sure those people who prefer email also get the message. In fact, I often point the U-Notice text back to the portal announcement to (a) encourage people to check the portal and (b) ensure everyone gets the same message.

It can sometimes be challenging to say what you need to say in 150 characters, but I have it down to a fine art now. So feel free to let me know if you’re struggling and I’ll find a way to make it work! I'm also happy to proofread announcements for anyone.

Remember that announcements must be submitted by 5pm on Wednesdays to get into that week’s mailing.
