On October 16 at 3pm, faculty will have the opportunity for further learning about and input into future LMS platform options in this webinar “Managing the LMS as a Hub Amidst a Highly Federated Spectrum of Learning Apps & Platforms”.

As a reminder, this is the second in a series of expert webinars being presented as a part of the CSU Learning Platform Systems (CSULPS) Task Force’s exploration of the current and future role of learning platforms in higher education. All stakeholders will be able to participate through an open web site at csulps.com, which will include blog postings, updates, and links to resources. Any interested individual can ask questions, make comments and suggestions, and help shape the development of the RFP via this site. 

The intended outcome of the process is that campuses will have a selection of pre-negotiated, cost-competitive software options in which they may participate if they choose to do so.

Managing the LMS as a Hub Amidst a Highly Federated Spectrum of Learning Apps & Platforms

Brief abstract: This presentation will explore and outline the reality of the LMS as just one of many educational apps deployed to enable the workflow, content, and learning activities that comprise the program-associated curricula offered, as well as the supporting online learning environment. We will cover the most important attributes of the underlying content and activity-enabling services, as well as interoperability and standards, and the learning data management services required to deliver valuable intelligence and analytics. This approach must be able to leverage and adapt key strategic LMS services, along with other content delivery and learning activity services, to best accommodate specialized and sometimes very different requirements across the spectrum of program and discipline area curricula.
