Highway 299 was closed on 12/13/16 due to a slide near Big French Creek, which is between Willow Creek and Weaverville and is 4.5 miles west of Big Bar, and CalTrans has announced that, due to the size and scope of the slide, 299 will remain closed until at least January 8th, 2017. Crews are working on constructing a short detour around the slide, open to one-way traffic only. 

In the meantime, please plan your travels accordingly. Check the CalTrans website, as well as the National Weather Service, before heading anywhere.
