WELCOMING OUR NEW STUDENTS TO HSU

August 14, 2015

With classes just around the corner, we are ready to kick off the new school year and welcome our new students with a positive HSU experience.  Our Welcome Home to Humboldt events start with Housing Move-In and the Humboldt Orientation Program (HOP), and will continue with more activities through the first two weeks of school.

Over 1,400 freshmen are expected to move in on Tuesday, August 18th and will attend HOP from August 19 through Friday, August 21. Their family members and guests will also be on campus and participating in the Family & Guest Orientation Program. Keep in mind that this may be the first time that many students and families set foot on our campus. Be prepared to assist and support them in finding their way to offices, or to share information if you see them across campus.

Schedule of events:

  • Saturday, August 15: Move-in for athletes, EOP, Klamath Connection, and International students
  • Monday, August 17: 8 a.m. – 12:30 a.m. — Housing is allowing residents to check in early, on Monday, August 17 with a $24 early arrival fee
  • Tuesday, August 18: 7 a.m. – 12:30 a.m. — Housing Move-in Day. Mill Street and parking lots G1 and R2 by the Jolly Giant Commons will be closed to staff in order to facilitate incoming move-in traffic.
  • Wednesday, August 19: 8 a.m. — HOP begins in the UC Quad
  • Friday, August 21: 5 p.m. — HOP ends
  • Monday, August 24: Classes begin

Please welcome our newest members of the HSU community.  Show your Lumberjack pride by wearing green and gold and decorating your offices.

Also note that due to the number of people expected on campus, parking will be extremely limited.  You are encouraged to use public transportation and carpooling options whenever possible during this week.

Thanks for your support of our new students!
