Winter Storm Round 2 on Tuesday (1/10)

January 9, 2017

We're in a small break after this weekend's storm, but expect round two shortly. From the National Weather Service:

"There will be a brief break in active weather today before the next system brings periods of heavy rain and strong winds for Tuesday. Expect 1 to 3 inches of rain with 4 to 5 inches possible in terrain favorable to orographic effects. Wind gusts may be greater than 55 mph especially across higher terrain. For weather concerns please check www.weather.gov for updates and details in the forecast. Stay informed and plan for potential impacts."

Along with the extra rainfall, we can expect some minor flooding in the area, specifically in the Arcata Bottoms. If you live in the area, be aware of standing water on roadways and drive safely.

Keep an eye on the weather via the National Weather Service and feel free to check out some winter preparedness tips from the American Red Cross.

As you travel back into the area before next semester, be sure to keep an eye on CalTrans road conditions to ensure a safe and smooth trip.
