RESOLVED: That the University Senate of Humboldt State University approves the attached revision to Section VII.A.2.a, “Performance Review” of Appendix J (HSU Faculty Handbook) be revised to reflect changes in the recently negotiated Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA) ratified by the California Faculty Association (CFA) in September 2012; and be it further
RESOLVED: That because this is a contract compliance revision, this change to Appendix J will not go to a General Faculty vote; and be it further
RESOLVED: That all CBA Article citations in Appendix J be updated to reflect changes in the recently negotiated CBA ratified by CFA in September 2012; and be it further
RESOLVED: That this policy become effective for the Spring 2013 semester; and be it further
RESOLVED: That this resolution be distributed to all probationary and tenured faculty, administrators who are part of the retention, tenure, and promotion review process, and college and department staff.
RATIONALE: The new collective bargaining agreement between the CFA and the CSU requires that all courses taught by faculty be evaluated by students every semester. The previous policy, as reflected in the current Appendix J, required a minimum of two courses per year. This change brings Humboldt State into compliance with the new CBA.
