Effective August 1, 2012, the Service Learning Center’s new name will be the “Center for Service Learning and Academic Internships.”
Beginning in July, 2012, the current name for Office of Extended Education will be changed to Office of Distance and Extended Education.
Resolved: That the Academic Senate of Humboldt State University recommends to the President the adoption of the attached HSU Internship Policy dated 9/14/10.
Resolved: That the Academic Senate of Humboldt State University recommends to the President that the minimum passing grade requirement for courses used to satisfy the requirements of a Master’s Degree at HSU will be a B-; and be it further
RESOLVED: That theUniversity Senate of Humboldt State University recommends to the President that the attached Academic Progress Rules for Undergraduate Programs, dated Spring 2012, be adopted and immediately implemented.
Resolution on Time Limit for Undergraduate Report in Progress (RP) Grades
RESOLVED: That the Academic Senate of Humboldt State University recommends to the President that a policy be adopted to require undergraduates to resolve a RP (Report in Progress) grade by completing required coursework within one year; and be it further
WHEREAS, According to Collegiality in the California State University System, adopted by the Academic Senate of the California State University (CSU) in March 1985, and accepted by the Board of Trustees, the faculty have primary responsibility for curricular decisions, including “the establishment of minimum conditions for the award of certificates and degrees to students”; and
The Dean for Undergraduate Studies requested that the Educational Policies Committee evaluate the current policy (see attached) requiring all those seeking a second baccalaureate degree, whose first degree came from a non‑CSU institution, to fulfill all HSU general education requirements. Evaluators in the Office of Enrollment Management attempt to match courses applicants have taken at a previous institution to HSU general education requirements. Often, however, no match can be found, particularly in the areas of critical thinking, oral communication and human integration.
