Caption: "Warsaw ruins resulting from the August uprising of the Poles. Barricades made of trains, buses, and other vehicles did not protect the rebels against annihilation or capture, says the German caption accompanying this photo received in New York by radio from Stockholm."

This photograph is from an album of photographs in the Baltic and Slavic Collection of the New York Public Library, POLAND IN PHOTOGRAPHS, 1939-44. The album was compiled anonymously in 1946. The photograph of the Ruined Barricades of the Warsaw Uprising is from Volume 5, titled "Polish Government in London: Polish Underground 1942-1944."
