At schools across the country and around the globe, student housing is enhanced through Residence Life. Here at HSU, dedicated educators and students come together to build community in the residence halls by providing fun and educational programs (events), enforcing community guidelines, and providing helpful resource referrals. Living on campus will be some of the most memorable times in your life; Residence Life will help make it a positive experience.
The intention of Residence Life is to focus on the education and holistic growth of the student by creating a safe, socially just, and environmentally responsible community.
Residence Life will be an internationally recognized community model impacting socially just education, global citizenship, and environmental sustainability.

We’re Here to Help
Residence Life Coordinators (RLCs) are professional staff members who live on campus and are available to you. They work as a team to help make each resident’s on-campus experience a positive one. The professional staff supervises student staff, advise area councils, administer the student conduct process, offer supportive counseling and assume responsibility for the general management of the various living areas. The Administrative Support Assistant, Jana Ashbrook, coordinates resident room moves, facility usage, and provides administrative and organizational support for Residence Life. In order to contact Jana Ashbrook, you may call (707) 826-3451 or email firstname.lastname@example.org.
Community Advocates (CAs) are leaders, selected for the position based on leadership skills and concern for peers and other students. CAs are trained to provide campus resource information, community building activities and peer advising. Additionally, they help ensure safety and security on-campus in the residence halls especially through the maintenance of community guidelines. A ResLife Staff Roster with CA names and locations was distributed during check-in. The list is also available in the Housing Office (2nd floor JGC) and at the Information Desk (1st floor JGC).
Living-Learning Community Advisors (LLCAs) are unique student staff positions that provide support for themed housing areas such as Gender Neutral, International Living, Natural Resources and Sciences, and O.A.C.S. LLCAs build community and host specific programs for the specific community they are assigned.
Residence Sustainability Advisor (RSA) is a student staff member that works in Housing to promote awareness and plan events regarding energy consumption and conservation.
Student Assistants (SAs) assist the RLCs, residents and staff by co-advising student councils, serving as mentors for Community Advocates and providing administrative support.
