Welcome to ResNet

Internet service for Humboldt State University residents is provided, at no additional charge, by the ResNet networking system. ResNet is available via Ethernet (wired) and WiFi (wireless) connections throughout the resident halls.

Although Humboldt State University does provides free wireless internet access to all HSU students, this access is intended and tailored for academic use only. ResNet, on the other hand, is designed with “at home” internet usage in mind. Residents at Humboldt State University may use ResNet to connect their desktop computers, laptops, smart phones, tablets, and even gaming console to the internet for both academic and recreational use.

Through ResNet, residents may work on class computing assignments with students both on and off campus, use HSU Library resources, correspond with professors, family, and friends, or setup and maintain a personal webpage. ResNet is high speed and available 24 hours per day, 7 days per week.

Wi-Fi Upgrades!

Campus Apartments, Del Norte, Shasta, Trinity, Mendocino, and Juniper received new Wi-Fi access points over the summer that support the latest 802.11ac wave2 connectivity standards. Residents in these buildings can enjoy expanded coverage and performance. Additional buildings are scheduled to be upgraded over the winter break or next summer.

Chromecasts & Google Home Minis

Many residents are returning with these devices only to find out that they don't work on ResNet. These devices are designed for home use and will fail to work as intended on ResNet due to a variety of technical and security limitations inherent to the devices themselves. Roku, Amazon Fire TV, Apple TV, or any other device that does not need to be "casted to" are good alternatives for media streaming.

Residence Life Cinema

Housing & Residence Life now brings you Residence Life Cinema, a selection of over 100 movies to stream FREE of charge! Movies are added every month, so check back often.
