Alison O'Dowd Alison O’Dowd is the Co-Director of the HSU River Institute and a Professor in the Department of Environmental Science and Management. Dr. O’Dowd’s research interests are in aquatic ecology and restoration ecology of freshwater systems. Her research explores how biological stream communities (primarily benthic macroinvertebrates) respond to disturbance within a watershed. Dr. O’Dowd is also interested in the ecology of step-pool streams and wetland ecosystems.
Bill Trush William (Bill) Trush is a Co-Director of the HSU River Institute and an Adjunct Professor in the Department of Environmental Science and Management.
Emily Cooper Emily Cooper is a Research Scientist for the HSU River Institute. Emily earned her Master of Science in Natural Resources at HSU in the Department of Environmental Science and Management in 2017. Her research interests include the biology of pacific salmonids and their instream habitat-density relationships, identifying stream geomorphology and hydraulic processes related to instream habitat, and quantifying riparian health. She enjoys using geospatial and ground-based scientific methods for explaining natural processes and interactions. Emily’s interests include quantifying flow requirements for aquatic organisms in running waters and utilizing that science to inform water resource management.
Mason London Mason London is a Research Scientist for the HSU River Institute. Mason received his Masters of Science in Biology from HSU in 2017. He is interested in how physical and chemical composition of aquatic ecosystems impact and affect aquatic biology, primarily benthic macroinvertebrates. Mason has a strong interest in utilizing benthic macroinvertebrates as indicators for water quality and helping explain processes in ecological functionality.
James Graham James Graham is an Associate Professor in the Department of Environmental Science and Management. at HSU
Jeff Kane Jeffrey Kane is an Associate Professor in the Department of Forestry and Wildland Resources at HSU.
Erin Kelly Erin Kelly is an Associate Professor in the Department of Forestry and Wildland Resources at HSU.
Margaret Lang Margaret Lang is a Professor in the Department of Environmental Resources Engineering at HSU.
Kathleen Lee Kathleen Lee is a Lecturer in the Department of Politics at HSU. Her interests are environmental policy and the state and federal levels, especially as it applies to climate change, energy and water scarcity as well as the political forces that are blocking meaningful policies to address those problems.
sungome Madrone Sungnome Madrone is a Lecturer in the Department of Forestry and Wildland Resources at HSU and is Executive Director of the Mattole Salmon Group .
Ken Owens Ken Owens is an Associate Professor in the Department of Mathematics at HSU.
Andy Stubblefield Andrew Stubblefield is a Professor in the Department of Forestry and Wildland Resources at HSU. His interests are in source, transport and fate of fine sediment and associated nutrients in watersheds. In particular, he is interested in investigating the hydrological processes that link land management, erosion and sediment transport with water quality. Dr. Stubblefield is also interested in climate change science and its impacts on water resources.
Darren Ward Darren Ward is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Fisheries Biology at HSU.
