American Indian College Motivation Day

American Indian College Motivation Day is held each Fall at Humboldt State University. Approximately 200 high schools students from 30 different schools throughout Northern AICMD Graphic California attend the event. In all, 30 different tribal affiliations are represented. One of the highlights of the program is the opportunity for Instant Admission to HSU offered by the Enrollment Management staff. Workshops are led by United Indian Health Services, Tribal affiliates, UC college representatives, and HSU personnel. The day concludes with a College Fair, in which students are exposed to college representatives, several community organizations, and HSU programs. Students in WorkshopI've Been Admitted to College

SASOP provides early outreach services to 8th grade students schools in the local service area. Attention is focused on delivering a motivational message and presenting pertinent information regarding course requirements for entrance to colleges and universities, test requirements for admission, and types of financial aid available. Study skills tips and a high school planning chart are also given to the students in an informational packet. Information is also provided about the Educational Talent Search and Upward Bound, both TRIO Programs.

SASOP/Preview Plus

Preview provides students with an opportunity to visit Humboldt State University as an introduction to campus activities and academic programs. Students chosen to attend Preview have been accepted to HSU and expressed interest in visiting the campus, but are unable to fund the expense of travel. These prospective HSU students are exposed to a hands-on experience in campus life, class lectures, and the majors of their choice.


Latin@ Empowerment Day

Participants gain valuable information on college, financial aid, admission requirements and much more!!  High School students have the opportunity to shadow and talk to Latin@ college students to learn about their experiences and successes. College Access and Leadership Workshop

Parents of 6‐12th grade students are invited to an informative day of workshops on topics like getting your students on track for college early and preparing older students for the transition into college! Breakfast, Lunch, and Child Care Provided!

Humboldt State University Preview Plus

Date: March 24-26, 2016
Location: HSU Campus

SASOP provides underrepresented students, who have expressed interest in visiting HSU, but are unable to fund the expense of travel, with an opportunity to visit and explore the campus. Current students and SASOP provide housing, meals, and transportation for prospective HSU students. They are given a hands-on experience on campus life, class lectures, and academic programs offered at HSU. Transportation is provided for students from the Los Angeles and Bay Areas.
