MSW Application Process
MSW Application Process
Dear Prospective MSW Applicant,
We are pleased that you are interested in Humboldt State’s graduate program in social work. We believe we have a dynamic and rich program that blends academic and field experiences to provide a unique educational opportunity. Our admissions process is competitive and we want to maximize your standing in our pool. We hope you have taken time to review the website, meet with faculty or in other ways become familiar with our program as we believe this will aid you in completing the application. We encourage you to be sure you have met the prerequisite requirements, and to follow the directions outlined (using the checkbox below).
Applying to Humboldt State University’s Master of Social Work Program is a two-part process. Acceptance into the MSW Program requires admission from both the Graduate Studies Program of Humboldt State University and the Department of Social Work. Thus, two separate application steps are required.
Part One - Application for Humboldt State University Graduate Studies through CSU Mentor.
Part Two - Complete the MSW Program Application. Log in and password are required. This is only obtained by first completing you application through CSU Mentor. Please allow 5 business days to receive your username and password.
We realize applying to a graduate program can be very stressful and that waiting for our admissions decision can be particularly difficult. We strive to complete the process as quickly as possible, but realize that many factors go into an offer of admission. Our aim is to complete the admissions process by March 31st, for both the Advanced Standing and Full-time Programs, and to notify you of our decisions as quickly as possible. For the Distributed Learning, Part-time Program, we will attempt to complete the admissions process by November 15th and to notify you of our decisions as soon as we are able.
We have a relatively small graduate program, and strive to keep our class sizes small. As a result, not everyone who applies to the program will be offered admission. If we cannot offer you a place in our program, we are more than willing to meet with you and provide you feedback on ways you might strengthen your application.
Please make sure to check out Humboldt State scholarship opportunities using the Scholarship Tracking and Review System (STARS).
Thank you again for your interest in our MSW program and we look forward to reviewing your application.
The Department of Social Work at Humboldt State University
