Sheri started teaching part time at Humboldt State University in 1999 in the Department of Sociology while working full time as the project director for the Humboldt County Department of Health and Human Services Public Health Branch Domestic Violence Prevention Program from 1997 until 2004. For 13 years, Sheri worked in the management of a battered women’s program where she began as a crisis line worker in 1981. For ten years, Sheri co-instructed with law enforcement the domestic violence unit at the College of the Redwoods police academy.
For more than a decade, Sheri worked with a team of others to begin a new MSW graduate program at HSU. In October of 2007, the MSW program received its accreditation and reaccreditation in 2012. In January of 2004, Sheri was appointed the Director of Field Education in the Department of Social Work at HSU. Sheri's university committee appointments include Student Grievance Committee, Student Affairs Committee, Alcohol and Other Drug Abuse Prevention Committee, and the Sexual Assault Prevention Committee. Sheri was a member of the team who created the course “Actions to End Sexualized Violence.”
Sheri lives in Freshwater California with her companion of 29 years and her four adorable cats.
