My name is Susie Cha, and I’m the Hmong Community Outreach Coordinator for the Social Work program. I’m also a former graduate from HSU’s Master’s program and employed at Child Welfare Services.
I would like to offer my support to any current or prospective Hmong student. My intention is to mentor and make sure each individual reach academic and professional success. There is a need for Hmong presence in the professional realm to better serve the Hmong community to improve current issues such as language or cultural barriers. I believe this need can be addressed by having more Hmong students graduate from the social work program and work directly in community agencies.
I can speak with prospective students and their parent(s) about the social work program, provide information on financial aid, CAlSWIC, and discuss possible career options. More importantly, I see myself as the bridge between the culture clash and generational difference that students often experience with their families when deciding if education is the path to pursue.
Please feel free to contact me at 826-4451 or email firstname.lastname@example.org to meet, refer students, or if you have any questions.
